Merchant Account Glossary: Address Verification Service (AVS)
AVS stands for the Address Verification Service. AVS is a fraud prevention tool. The way it works is when you submit the customer's
billing information, you will receive an AVS response. This response will tell you if the information provided by the customer matches
with what is on file with the card issuing bank. If the customer is using a different shipping and billing address, we recommend
paying special attention to the AVS response.
