Merchant Account Glossary: Downgrades

Downgrades is referred to as when you process a card that costs more than your qualified discount rate. This would include the rates most merchant providers call, Mid Qualified and Non Qualified surcharges. Charging the mid or non-qualified rate is referred to as downgrading.
